Having Critical Illness On My Child Really Helped Us Get Through This Tough Time.

I was having lunch with a gentleman one day and he told me his little boy has cancer and they have been in and out of the Stollery for a long time fighting this. The gentleman told me that he was so thankful he had critical illness on his children in case anything should happen to them.

To explain, critical illness is a lump sum of tax free cash paid out in the event of a lot of illnesses but some of the big ones for kids specifically are cancer, autism, cerebral palsy, congenital heart disease, cystic fibrosis, muscular dystrophy and type 1 diabetes. This child’s policy covers 25 other illnesses as well including bacterial meningitis!

When your kids are young, this money is here to help you pay for many things like your time off work so you can be at the hospital with them, daycare for the other kids, parking at the hospital, eating at the hospital or any prescriptions that are not covered to name a few things.

It’s a terrifying thing when your kid is fighting for their life. The last thing you want to worry about is money. This policy is quite incredible. Kids have this policy until they are 75 and the price never changes. In 15 years if they haven’t used the policy you would get back 75% of your money. In another 15 years, if they haven’t used the policy they will get 75% of the money back and if they still haven’t used it at age 75 they will get 100% of their money back!
